Parallel to my more overtly autobiographical work, I have been painting people I admire for 10 years. I love hearing people's stories, pain, successes, and hopes. Painting people in their homes has made it clear to me that I have been painting about myself all along, even when I didn't think I was. 

This body of work looks at the need for perfection, beauty, success, and order, and asks "why?" Through all of the striving and achieving, there is hardly ever a moment where we feel at peace. The paintings might look somewhat peaceful, but the edge of anxiety and control is there.
